Department of Civil Service
Why am I being asked to provide my Social Security Number?
The New York State Department of Civil Service requires certain personal information,
including your Social Security Number, for some of our systems such as the Civil Service
examination process.
I do not have a Social Security Number.
If you have never been issued a Social Security Number from the
United States Social Security Administration we can give you a substitute number.
If you do have a Social Security Number, please
return to the create account page and enter it now.
If you do not have a Social Security Number, use the button below to have one generated.
This substitute number is for Department of Civil Service purposes only and is not recognized by the Federal Government.
It is very important that you save the number because you will need it for future identification purposes.
For help, email the ITS Enterprise Service Desk at: fixit@its.ny.gov
(Please provide a phone number where we may contact you). Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
