Appointees who work in the five boroughs of New York City or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, or Westchester Counties will receive an additional $3,026 annual downstate adjustment. Appointees who work in Dutchess, Orange, or Putnam Counties will receive an additional $1,513 annual mid-Hudson adjustment.
Minimum Qualifications
On or before July 20, 2019, you must have a high school diploma, a high school equivalency diploma issued by a recognized state educational authority, or a USAFI GED high school certificate AND:

Either 1. six years of industrial manufacturing experience, of which three years must have been at the supervisory level AND current possession of a valid New York State Department of Labor Asbestos Supervisor certificate
Or 2. a certificate in Manufacturing Management from an accredited program AND five years of industrial manufacturing experience, of which three years must have been at the supervisory level AND current possession of a valid New York State Department of Labor Asbestos Supervisor certificate;
Or 3. an associate's degree or higher in engineering, industrial management, industrial technology, or manufacturing technology AND four years of industrial manufacturing experience, of which three years must have been at the supervisory level AND current possession of a valid New York State Department of Labor Asbestos Supervisor certificate.
For No. 26-687010:

If you expect to meet the educational requirements by January 31, 2020, you can be admitted to the written test, but you cannot be considered for appointment until you submit proof of successful completion of the educational requirement to the Appointing Authority at the time of the employment interview. Failure to meet the educational requirements by January 31, 2020 may result in your removal from the eligible list.

- Background Investigation: Because of the nature of the position there is an investigative screening that may include a thorough character investigation. All convictions must be reported. - Appropriate part-time and volunteer experience, which can be verified, will be accepted on a prorated basis.

The Positions
These positions exist in the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Duties
As a General Industrial Training Supervisor (Abatement), you would direct the Abatement Services program, oversee facility asbestos abatement projects, and abatement services for other related health and safety issues such as lead paint. Illustrative duties include: develop and maintain industrial training programs; supervise Industrial Training Supervisors and inmate workers within the Abatement Services program; develop specifications for bidding of air monitoring, waste disposal, abatement supplies, and equipment; in conjunction with the Production Control Supervisor, determine schedule for each abatement project; develop plans and specifications to be distributed for bidding purposes by interested parties; and prepare cost estimates and develop a scope of work for each project in conjunction with the Assistant Industrial Superintendent and Facilities Planning.
As a General Industrial Training Supervisor (Optical Manufacturing), you would direct the production of quality optical products at the lowest possible cost in accordance with predetermined delivery schedules. Illustrative duties include: develop and maintain Optical Products Manufacturing program; supervise Industrial Training Supervisors within the Optical Products Manufacturing program; in conjunction with the Production Control Supervisor, establish manufacturing schedules; determine which optical product is to be manufactured based on customer orders and stock requirements; verify availability of raw materials; supervise and implement production control documentation geared for the orderly and efficient operation; plan for the timely shipment of finished products and the storage of finished goods, for stock, or customer orders to be delivered at a later date; develop methods for the utilization of materials that would ordinarily become scrap and/or plan for removal of scrap; maintain quality control standards and procedures; supervise the maintenance and repair of machines and physical plant in the Optical Manufacturing program; assist in the development of new or modified shop layouts or methods and procedures of manufacturing, and supervise their implementation; conduct time studies to evaluate the efficiency of shop operations; prepare cost analyses for Correctional Industries products to assist in establishing a fair market price; and create reports including weekly payroll, production, raw material usage, machine usage, and bills of material.
