MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: On or before the date of the written test, you must have:
For No. 23-954010: a master's degree AND three years professional level experience in elementary, middle or secondary education. Two years of this experience must have been in educational administration with major responsibility for education finance, education finance research or fiscal management.
For No. 23-955010: a master's degree AND five years professional level experience in elementary, middle or secondary education. Three years of this experience must have been in educational administration with major responsibility for education finance, education finance research or fiscal management.
NOTES:
THE POSITIONS: These positions exist in the New York State Education Department in Albany. Currently, there are two vacancies at the Assistant level and one vacancy at the Associate level.
DUTIES: As an Associate in School Financial Aid, you would provide advice and assistance to local school district and BOCES administrators in matters of school finance and business management. This may include administering laws, regulations and procedures concerned with State and federal assistance to local educational agencies; compiling data for local assistance reports; establishing procedures and policies to ensure adherence to State and federal regulations; reviewing for approval local applications for aid; reviewing school district and BOCES budgets and audits; reviewing contracts; managing capital construction projects; and conducting field visits to ensure the fiscal integrity of projects.
As an Assistant in School Financial Aid, you would provide assistance to higher level professional staff in the areas described for Associate in School Financial Aid.
SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION: There will be a written test which you must pass in order to be considered for appointment. The written test is designed to test for knowledge, skills and/or abilities in such areas as:
NOTE TO STATE EMPLOYEES: You MUST take the written test even if you have participated in prior years' Promotion Test Batteries. Banked Promotion Test Battery scores cannot be used for this open-competitive examination. Likewise, your score on the written test will not be banked. If you qualify for the Specialists Promotion Test Battery you MUST file a separate application for the Specialists Promotion Test Battery if you want to bank the score from this test holding.
Approximately three days before the written test, you will receive a test admission notice of the time and place for you to take the written test on October 27, 2001.
